Photographing The Banks & Fountain Square

Saturday October 5, 2013, 8:30am – Noon EST
We’re leading a group for The World Wide Photo Walk 2013 again in Cincinnati! YAY! This is the 6th year for the photo walk and Glenn & my 3rd year in a row to lead a group of 50 camera-toting folks around town. What fun!

Open to All Abilities & Experience Levels
You don’t need to know how to use your camera to join us. iPhone to SLR – you’re all welcome!
The Walk is open to all abilities – you’re welcome to go at your own pace (and if you’re bringing a helper or family/friend, they don’t need to register – just photographers need register). Total length is about 2 miles over 3 hours. There will be a few hills, but if you need to – modify your route (need help with a plan – ask away). And I know what you’re thinking….
FOOD! Yes! There are LOTS of options for lunch in and around The Banks area. And DOUBLE YES we’re passing a coffee shop (or 3), but with 50 people in the walk, do the math… You may want to go early for that. 🙂 FORECAST: HIGH 82!!! WOAH!

The Banks construction I shot it for The Enquirer.
Featured Stops on our Walk
- Smale Riverfront Park
- The Banks (looks a little different now!)
- Fountain Square

Photo Tips
I’ll be posting on the blog with tips for our walk, with cool ideas for shooting Fountain Square up first. I’ll try to work in a few trips downtown just for that, in between classes & lessons.
If you’re registered to walk and have some photo questions, I’d love to help. Join me at this Google+ community or post on my facebook page – link below.
And you know I don’t mind doing 1-1 workshops… just doin’ my job (and LOVING it!). There’s room in the August 21 – Sept 11 DSLR Beyond Auto Mode Group Workshop too! Quick – go sign up!
Parking
Parking is available in the garage which visitors enter off Mehring Way. Bike racks are distributed throughout the park. An elevator adjacent to the Roebling Bridge at the west edge of the park at the upper level water plaza provides access to the lower part of the park along Mehring Way.

Hashtags: #wwpw #wwpw2013 #wwpwcincy. I’ll be posting on the blog here as well with photo tips geared to our walk. They’ll have wwpwcincy tag as well.
Twitter: @scottkelby @napp_news & of course @hartongdigital – same on Instagram.
Be sure to join the Flickr Group – I’ll send an email update out to the walkers with the link as we get close to the walk date. Only registered walkers will be invited to post but the images will seen publicly.
NOTE: if this walk fills up, which I’m expecting it will, Enquirer photojournalist/multimedia producer/husband Glenn Hartong will lead a group as well. Stay tuned to this site and my social media links if you see this one getting full. There’s only room for 50 each walk. FYI: Getting on the waiting list is not the same as signing up with a different leader. Questions? Contact me! I’m happy to help!
